To the Croft family

I express my deepest condolences to your family and for your loss. I did not know Sgt David Andrew croft. However, I was told about military bracelets that you can wear to support soldiers from different wars that were either POW's MIA or KIA. I decided to order a bracelet about a soldier from the Iraqi war. I received my bracelet today in the mail and received David Andrew Crofts name. I decided to google his name so I could know more about him. He sounds like he was an amazing person and a very brave soldier. My gratitude goes out to his service and what he did for our country and freedom. I will wear this bracelet as a reminder for the huge sacrifice Sgt Croft has made for our country. You guys will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

I consider myself to be extremely privledged to have served as the career counselor for 1-7 Cav Sqdn.The passing of Spc Croft and 2lt Fortin are tragic. Both of the Soldiers truely represent what's best in our country. Campassion, duty, self service, and the willingness to scarifice. They served in a unit who's leadership was nothing less than outstanding, who's history is nothing short of remarkable. None of which, can ever diminish the loss of a son, husband, finacee. I hate they passed, but I am extremely pround to have served with them!

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I way not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Hi Dave,
This is Mom..I never knew you could miss someome so much...This is the week you were suppose to spend with me in Pace..remember we were going to the Casino one day this week and out to eat..I'm going to do these things with Robin and Tyler...I don't think there is a restaurant here in Tampa that makes their own brew..Dave, I am working on a game room to keep your memory alive...I have some cool ideas. It will be a lot like uncle wayne's man cave...I'm calling your room the Dave Cave..There will be a pool table, Bar, music, big screen TV, PS3 and a Wii, and all of your medals and certificates from the army...and all of your pictures..It will not be a shrine..Anyone that steps foot in your game room will be there to have fun...Oh yea..Your home brew maker will also be set up..
David I love you and miss you more than you will ever know...

I still cant believe that your gone. I know that you would be so proud of the strength your Mom has shown. I know that you were looking down from Heaven saying " Good job Mom, just a little bit longer, It's almost over". And I have no doubt that you were smiling with pride at how many lives you have touched.
Vickie, I smile through tears and heartache but with an enormous amount of pride and gratitude that you included me in Lil David's homecoming, I was humbled by that, more than you know.
David's picture will always be proudly displayed so that all who enter my home will know "MY" nephew Tyler's Big Brother.
I love you all so much. May the Lord Bless your heart with love and comfort.

Dear Croft family & David's fiance',
First,I didn't know David but, my husbands family did. I still want to thank you for allowing your loved one be apart of serving our country,and dying for our freedom. It keeps me reminded that Our Freedom really isn't FREE. Lives are lost everyday.
I can't say I know how it feels to loose a child because I've never lost a child and so forth but, I've lost my mother. The separation is so overwhelming at times. But, we have to hold onto the memories that we have shared together and cherish them.
We can't understand why things happen but,we have to trust in God. He's in control.
We will continue to pray for you and your family. As someone shared at my mothers funeral. Someone else has got to step up to the plate and be the glue that holds everyone together. Spend as much time together as you can.
I'm so thankful for what your son & other men & women have done for our country. May God be with all of you and comfort you through this time.

I did not know David personally but I did know his father, David Sr., throughout my childhood. David's grandparents, Dee and Leilah, were my parents' best friends. The Crofts were all such sweet people and none of them were ever lacking when it came to courage. My heart aches for the family that David left behind, as it swells with pride in knowing that David possessed that same fearlessness and courage of those who were waiting for him in Heaven.

January 24, 2010

Our prayers, gratitude and thanks go out to ALL of you during your time of loss and sorrow. Not only did David love his family, but he loved his country. He was asked to serve and protect, but not just our country, another one as well, and he did so willingly. His bravery and honor, like so many who gave their lives, will be cherished by our family forever!

In the Bible, it says that if we serve the Lord daily, and trust and believe in Him, we will see each other again. Trust in that promise! God will be right there with each of you! David is now home with his Heavenly Father, and his earthly Father as well...find solace in that peace and joy!

Just remember this...when you are feeling pain, lonliness, and sorrow, walk outside, look up toward heaven and close your eyes...it will be then that a cool, gentle breeze will move softly over your face, and you will know they are blowing kisses to you from Heaven!

Trust that David will be with you in everything you do...everyone of you!

We love God, our Country, our Family & Friends and our Fallen Heroes!

SGT. David A. Croft Jr. thank you for all that you have done. You and I have a lot of things in common. I am an American Soldier and I was also born on January 8, 1987 just like you. We have never met until today. I was that Honor Guard that carried you from the hearse to the chapel and stood by your side looking over your family and friends; and I also fired that M-1 all in your honor. It was a great honor for me to do those things for you. You are a true American Hero. Thank you!!!
