Gerald Austin Obituary
Machinist Technician
LAKELAND - Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Brown Austin, 81, died July 4, 2011 at Highlands Lake Center due to heart failure.
He was born December 26, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan, served in the U.S. Army Engineers and moved to Lakeland in 1969. Mr. Austin was a retired machinist technician who loved baseball, football, golf and bowling.
Mr. Austin was pre-deceased by his parents Allen and Gertrude Austin, sister Kathleen Clore, brothers Jack, Joseph and Donny Austin. He is survived his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred Brown Austin of Lakeland, daughter Linda Thompson of Lakeland, granddaughter Sabrina Thompson of Lakeland, sisters Virginia Watson of Jackson Michigan, Nancy VanCamp (David) of North Port, Florida and Carol Cooper of Concord, Michigan, brother Gene Austin (Alice) of Parma, Michigan along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 P.M. in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
