Glenn Edgar Coppock, devoted husband and father, completed his earthly journey on March 22, 2012 in Winter Haven, FL, due to heart failure. Born on May 18, 1924 in Cullman County Alabama, he was the son of John William Coppock and Dura Pearl (Braswell) Coppock and the brother of Huey Coppock (Essie Claire). Graduating from Hanceville High School in Cullman County in 1943, Glenn entered the Army Air Corps for 21 months of service during World War II. Glenn received a BS in agricultural engineering from Auburn University and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University.
While attending OSU Glenn met his wife of 57 years and was married in Hamilton, Ala. Upon moving to Winter Haven, Florida from Bakersfield, California in 1957, they had three children. Glenn initiated work on the mechanization of peanut harvesting in Alabama and Georgia and later was involved in the harvest mechanization of castor beans in Oklahoma and California. Most of his professional life was spent in Florida working on citrus harvest mechanization at the University of Florida's Citrus Experiment Station where he obtained professorship in 1968. He published many technical publications and was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers where he served as chairman of the Florida Section in 1966-67.
Glenn was a member of the Winter Haven Civitan Club and served as secretary-treasurer 1958-60. Later, he became a member of the Winter Haven Kiwanis Club where he served over 30 years, serving on the Agricultural and Foreign Visitor committee. Also, Glenn had a deep interest in the Winter Haven library having served over 20 years; 5 years with the Friends of the Library and 15 years on the Library Board. Glenn was a member of Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader and on various committees.
Glenn is survived by his children, daughters: Debbie DeWitte (Richard) of Naples, FL, Joyce Hoefle (Richard) of Mesa, Az. and son Ed (Leslee) of Tampa, FL and grandchildren, Jeff and Lisa DeWitte and Alex Hoefle.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church, 700 North Lake Howard Drive, Winter Haven, FL. Life celebration reception will be held at the church following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Glenn may be made to Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church.

Glenn and I became acquainted via internet in 1998 - and learned we were 3rd cousins. Glenn and I worked on Family history and were able to solve many old mysteries over the years. Sincere sympathy to Glenn's children and grandchildren and all his Family and Friends.
