LAKELAND - Helen (Yvonne) Hillman, 75, of Lakeland, passed away peacefully Friday, July 11, 2014, at LRMC.
Yvonne was born June 16, 1938, in Chattanooga TN, the daughter of the late Thomas & Peggy Wycoff. She spent the majority of her life in Niagara Falls, NY, retiring as an Owner/Operator of a concession stand for the Niagara Falls Police Dept. She relocated to Lakeland, Fl. in 1989 with her husband, the late Gordon R. Hillman, the love of her life for 48yrs. Yvonne was a very strong, caring woman, mother, and grandmother, working and raising a family while totally blind since 1965.
Survived by her 2 children, Gordon D. Hillman, Peggy L. Lankford and her husband Jonathon of Lakeland; 4 grandchildren James Alfiere Jr., and his wife Haley, Tesha M. Hibbard and her husband Michael of Lewiston, NY, Jennifer Hillman, Jina Hillman of Lakeland, and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas (Stephen) Wycoff.
A Viewing & Service will be held for friends and family at the Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens Mon. July 21, 2014, at 4pm. The family will have a private graveside service at a later time.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or memorial gifts may be made in her name to the National Federation of the Blind, American Cancer Association or a charity of your choosing.
