BRAY, 94
LAKELAND - Rev. John L. Bray, 94, of Lakeland, passed away December 5, 2016. John was born December 6, 1921 in Macon, Ga. He was a pastor of Southern Baptist churches for 30 years and also spent 30 years as a full-time evangelist and Bible conference speaker, having preached in 35 states and 55 foreign countries.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Evelyn Bray; children Ruth Ann Franklin of Lakeland, Lois Jean Bray (husband Eric Zopff) of Jacksonville, Paul Mark Bray (wife Shawna) of Bradenton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 9, 2016 in the chapel at First Baptist Church at the Mall in Lakeland. Viewing will be at 10:00 followed by the service at 11:00.
In Lieu of flowers, those wishing, can make a donation in honor of John to Compassion House.

God bless you Rev Bray. I remembered growing up in Yekepa, Liberia West Africa. He came over there to have crusade and to evangelize. He was a true servant of God.

I am in the process or rereading Pastor Bray's book - Matthew 24 Fulfilled. I was hoping to "join" his mailing list, but discovered that he had passed away only a year ago. His ministry has helped formulate a much greater understanding of Bible prophecy to me, my family and many others.
Does anyone know if his legacy & ministry lives on with any particular continuity?
God bless this man's spirit to Glory.

I love brother John. He was loving and humble which are two character witnesses that are rare to find these days. I wrote a note to brother John. He wrote back on his trusted typewriter and helped me. Not many ministers would do that.
One of his books, Mathew 24 Fulfilled is one of my very favorite books. It has helped me a lot with Johns teaching style to understand that Christ returned in the first century.
Brother John was a good man and loved Jesus and loved others. He lived a full life and is now with the Lord in Heaven! My prayers go out to the family. One day we will see him again.

God has so many ways of lighting our pathways. I read Mr. Bray's book, "Matthew 24 Fulfilled", and that struck a match that lit the candle that set me on the path to a firm belief in Covenant Eschatology. I'm so thankful for his involvement in the process.

I first read a little booklet by Mr.Bray in 1978 or so.After reading his booklets,and always making sure that was what the Bible taught,I learned very important Bible truths.
Thank God for using Mr. Bray in my life.

Great lifetime work that should inspire all Bible believing Christians everywhere! His work is unprecedented among those who sought truth in prophetic bible passages, and brought light to myself and others in understanding the same. Pastor Bray has been a great inspiration to me. I've corresponded with him over the years and own many of his books and tapes. While I have never personally met him, I have had the great pleasure of speaking to him by phone. I thought of him as a great friend and am grateful to him for his ministry. Pastor Bray is courageous for the Lord and studied hard all his life. Peace to his family.
