Winter Haven Hospital
BARTOW - Mrs. Mable A. Burgess, 62, passed away March 1, 2010 due to heart failure.
Mable was born in New Orleans, La. on Feb. 20 1948. She was a member of Greater Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as President of the Deaconess Ministry and a faithful member of the Mission Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Willie & Alice Mable Banks, her grandmother Mable Alice Melancon, and 3 sisters.
Mable is survived by her husband of 41 years Carl Burgess, Sr., four children Carl (Sonya) Burgess Jr., Crystal (Robert) Burnett, Kia Burgess and Cory Burgess, one step-daughter Aundra Burgess, sister Joan (Andrew) Carr, and one brother Wilfred (Josephine) Banks, grandchildren: Christopher, A'Niya, Jaylen, Eric Jr. and Cayden, two Godsons Brian Banks and Dadrian Grier, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5:00-7:00pm at Greater Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Bartow. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00am at the church. Services entrusted to Williams Funeral Home.

To: Carl Sr.& Jr., Crystal, Cory & Kia. I am so very sorry for your lost and the lost of one of my very special friends. She was a very private person as you know but when I worked with her at the Nurses Station at Polk General Hospital she was my confidant for many years. I just want to leave with you this little Nugget that she left with me when she got up out of her bed at 4 o'clock in the morning to come and get me and let me know that my son had made a turn for the worst. That's a FRIEND. Mable told me, Helen it's going to be alright and I'm telling you the same. It's going to be hard losing your Angel but it's going to get somewhat better after awhile. An angle is someone who looks after you, Mrs. Mable you were my angle. I remember coming to cmu on my birthday, Mrs. Mable ask me what was I going in I told her I was collecting dollars for my birthday, she told me i was crazy but she still gave me a dollar to pin with the rest. Mrs Mable I will miss hearing your voice on the other end of the phone. My blessing is with your family at this time of need, may god contine to shine his light over the whole family. There is a land of pure delight where saints immortal reign infinite day excludes the night and pleasure banishes it the pain.
"For me to live in Christ, and to die is gain". We must not mourn as those without hope, for "Mable" has gone to get the great reward promised to all who faithfully serve our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
"Mable" is a former co-worker and was a beautiful person to have known for many years.
It is our family prayer that God will sustain your family through these bereaved times.

Mrs Mable we love you and your smile; you will be missed very much work will not be the same without hearing your voice and seeing you Smile in the morning before we leave to go home, but even though i will miss you, i know you with the one in only good god himself, your a beautiful Angel in the sky and i know you will always look over me, My Blessing goes out to all of your family, keep your head up and always remember( Mrs Mable is with our good Lord God) and we will always love her ,she will be missed,the Winter Haven Hospital will not be the same with out her.
