Mark Baker Obituary

Mark Alexander Baker, 57, of Port Angeles passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of January 4, 2015.

Mark left all those who had the pleasure of getting to know him with brilliantly happy memories and laughs that we will all hold onto dearly and forever.

Mark was born December 11, 1957, to Raleigh and Reva Baker in Hollywood, California.

Mark first and foremost loved — and was so proud of — his five children and his seven grandchildren.

He was a master electrician, a very talented carpenter, mechanic and really could (and loved trying to) fix just about anything.

Mark enjoyed "Star Trek," stollen bread, the Grateful Dead, telling wild stories of his days growing up in Southern California, Heath bars, a good-fitting pair of 501's, fireworks, writing his own jokes, Coca-Cola and antiques.

A favorite song of his was "Dear Mr. Fantasy."

Mark also shared the last 17 years of his life with his "sweetie" and love, MaryAnne Anderson. Together, they enjoyed beach walks, concerts at The Gorge, gardening, bird-watching and so much more.

Mark is survived by his wife, MaryAnne; five children, Willie Truex, Carissa (Wesley) Fallan, Stewart Baker, Cynthia Baker and Daniel Baker; seven grandchildren, Journey, Jaxin, Carsin, Sebastion, Madelyne, Blaze and Lavender; three sisters, Paula Smith, Lisa Unger and Laurel Calder; and brother William Baker.

He was loved very much and will be missed every day.

Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Mark's life in his or her own way.

No formal service will be held upon Mark's request.

I haven't seen Mark in over 30 years but when I was a child growing up across the street from him he left a lasting impression. He was the funniest and most fun person to know. Always welcome at our home. Still the subject of many stories when my family gets together and remembers the "old" days. He made a lasting impression on everyone that knew him. He will be missed but never forgotten.

My Uncle Mark was my most favorite uncle! He was funny, loving, and brilliant. He inspired me always to be myself, and to honor my own way of doing things. Uncle Mark was always true to himself, and I love him dearly for that! I miss you Uncle Mark, and keep all my memories of you close.

My Brother Mark was a loving husband, brother, father and Grandfather. A man who was technically gifted. He was a unique funny man who could make anyone laugh. He told a great many off colored jokes, which could make some people blush. He loved life. In his earlier days he was the life of a party, in his later years he was more introspective. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, bird watching, and gardening. Mark you are loved and missed dearly.
