LAKE WALES - Mary Alice Griffiths, 91, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida.
She was born October 15, 1926 in Burlington, New Jersey to the late Ernest and Miriam (Stiles) Tillinghast. Mrs. Griffiths moved from Greentown, Pennsylvania to Lake Wales in 1990. She was a retired registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Griffiths.
Mrs. Griffiths is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Doris and William Rule, and their families, her three stepdaughters, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Trenton, New Jersey.

As a child my Aunt Mary would take me on trips. Her plate of Christmas cookies were somehow better than any gifts I received. There were times when I got a piece of black coal meaning I was a bad boy. But she was only kidding. Whenever I drink or there is the mention of Tang I think of times I stayed over with her and my grandmother. I liked listening to this great stereo system she had which she passed onto me. It was as old as me and sounded better than anything new. I stayed with her for a short time when I was older when I had run into hard times. She was always bailing someone out from a jam. Wonderful memories.
