WINTER HAVEN - Monroe C. Campbell, Jr., age 77, died of heart failure Sunday (Nov. 11, 2007) at Winter Haven Hospital.
Born in Wilson, N.C., on May 5, 1930, he came to Winter Haven from Jacksonville, Florida in 1998. He was a public T.V. producer of Host-Out The Door with Monroe Campbell in Jacksonville for 25 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Protestant and a member of Jacksonville King Fish Association.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife Marie E. Campbell, Winter Haven; sons, Monroe C. "Scott" Campbell, III, James "Jim" Campbell, both of Jacksonville; stepdaughters, Lisa Morrison, Lorraine Walker, both of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL., 32223.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3319 Maguire Blvd., Orlando, FL., 32803

Condolences to the family. As a kid living in his neighborhood across from Trads, in Jax, he was a rock star. Out the door was must see T.V. as they say nowadays. As one of the Greatest Generation he paved the ways for today´s Youtube sensations. See ya in the river Monroe.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I moved to Jacksonville in 1986 and found the Out The Door show. If not for Monroe, my son and I probably would not know how to surf fish,WHAT A GREAT MAN AND SHOW!

When I first moved to Florida I enjoyed fishing and found the Out the Door with Monroe Campbell show. I use to try to see where he was fishing on TV and try to find those same spots myself. Monroe touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed. Our prayers to the family.

I grew up working at Channel 7 and Monroe was a great influence on me professionally and personally. I had the great pleasure of working with him in the studio and sometimes filming his fishing outings. Many of my fondest memories of my first decade in television revolve around Monroe. Men of his like are rare and he will be missed.

I wanted to let the family know that the people here in jax have been missing him since his show went off the air.As a kid growing up I never missed the show and learned alot from him he was truly a well known and respected man in this area. Sorry for your loss.If theres fishin in heaven we know hes got one on the line right now.

Sorry to hear about Monroe passing. Like many outdoorsmen in north Florida, his show was the highlight of our week. It was a rare week I missed his show. I remember seeing him at Publix one day years ago and I was like a little kid (even though I was over 30)....there he was my fishing hero. May God be with you....tight lines.

The family has my thoughts and prayers. I knew Monroe when he was at Channel 7 here in Jacksonville. He was a very fine man, I really liked his honesty, sincerity, and sense of fair play, as well as his love of the outdoors. He was very much missed when he moved away.

I knew Monroe 20 years ago when I lived in Jacksonville. He was a true outdoorsman, a generous spirit and a joy to be with. I am happy I had the honor of being a friend.
