LAKELAND - Paul Stephen "Steve" Hogg, Jr., 73, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 3, 2013, as a result of cancer.
Mr. Hogg was born August 18, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas. He and his family moved to Lakeland in 1981. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Hogg was employed by Huntington Mortgage where he served as a mortgage banker until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed golf and loved watching the Tampa Bay Rays, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Hogg is survived by Marilyn Hogg; sons, Steve (Karen) Hogg, Gary Hogg and John (Stacey) Hogg; daughters, Carletta (Youssef) Riyahi and Amy (Tom) Hamilton; sisters, Helen and Margaret; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Hershey
Mr. Hogg's family will receive friends Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 10-11am at Lakeland Funeral Home at 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 11am. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be made to the Hogg family at

Marilyn, Words cannot express my deepest sympathy for you and your children. Steve was a prince of a gentleman, and I immensely enjoyed my conversations and interactions with him at Highland Homes. My God help you through this terrible time.

Became one of my best friends after working with him for several years at American Home Mortgage. He got me into golf[not sure if that was a good thing!] and the Tom Miller Open. Spend a day with him 2 months ago while visiting Florida. We had talked about a lot of things we'd do when I moved to Largo at the end of this year. Will have to wait till we meet again on the other side. Vaya con Dios my friend

I didn't have my whole life to build memories with Steve, but the times I did have with him... I will definitely carry with me my whole life. A Godly man...strong Christian family... Loved by many! Praying for the family!

I met Steve playing golf and we became good friends and I had come to love "Hogg" as a brother. When ever we got together it was as though we were never apart. I will miss you my Brother, but you will always be in my heart. Till we met again I will cherish our time as friends "Hogg". I love you and will keep your family in my prayers.
