AUBURNDALE - Troy Beverly, 77, of Auburndale, FL went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2010 due to a brave battle with Parkinson's disease.
Troy was born June 10, 1933 in Haines City, FL. He lived in Moultrie, GA before moving to Lakeland in 1960. He served in the United States Army and Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the City of Lakeland as a heavy equipment operator. He was a former member of West Lakeland Church of God, where he served as the Bus Ministry Director for many years. He is presently a member of the Abundant Life Church of God.
He was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather and loving husband. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie L. and Evie G. Beverly; brothers, Wilton Beverly and Lloyd Beverly. He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Carolyn Beverly; son, Kevin (Denise) Beverly of Lakeland; daughter, Mel-issa (Wayne) Skinner of Lakeland; brother, Gerald (Peggy) Beverly of Palatka, FL; sisters, Eugenia Stancil of Lakeland and Willene Eldridge of Moultrie, GA; grandson, Rev. Caleb T. (Kenna) Skinner; granddaughters, Brittany and Jourdan Beverly; great-grandchildren, Troy and Paisley Skinner; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Northside Chapel. Home going celebration will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 am at Abundant Life Church of God with Rev. Caleb T. Skinner officiating. Interment will follow service at Oak Hill Burial Park.

Carolyn, my heart goes out to you and your family on Troy's homegoing. It is so wonderful to know he will "meet you at Jesus' feet" one day sooner than any of us probably know. You and Troy were one of the first to extend your fellowship to me when I started at Abundant Life and we had such great discussion about the love we shared for all of those a part of the Gaither Homecoming. Just think, Troy is now among those faithful who have gone on home. I love you, Carolyn, and you are in my prayers.

It's always hard to say good-bye to those we love but knowing they are rejoicing in heaven brings us comfort. Bro. Beverly will always be remembered for his great love of children and the bus ministry at West Lakeland. I know he will be greatly missed by many.

I don't suppose it's ever easy, and loved ones are sorely missed, but knowing Brother Troy has just "gone on home" is such a blessed reassurance. He was a remarkable man, and it was an honor knowing him, if only as an acquaintance, for so many years. Prayers, love and blessings to you, Sister Carolyn, and the Varner family, through whom I knew this man of God.
