LAKELAND - Virgie Mae Thompson, 93, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of the Warsaw and Milford, IN area, passed away May 25, 2018. She was born August 31, 1924 in Alger, Ohio to parents Lester and Nora Whitaker Nichols. On July 18, 1942 she married Raymond F. Thompson.
She spent most of her years as a homemaker. She enjoyed doing crafts and was a volunteer at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for several years. She was a member of the Trinity Life Church of God in Lakeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her parents; son Michael; sisters Joann Bays and Donna Hites; brothers Ralph and Melvin Nichols.
Virgie is survived by her daughter Beverly Thompson, Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law Candy Thompson, North Webster, IN; grandchildren Trish Thompson, Lakeland, FL, Todd Thompson, Atlanta, GA and Brent (Cindy) Thompson, Austell, GA, Emmy (Kirk) Winegarden and Toby Thompson, Ft. Wayne, IN; step-grandchildren Brandi (Denver) McConnell, Kennesaw, GA, Brooke (Jason) Romano, Hir-am, GA and Ben Norman, Bossier City, LA; 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 11AM Wednesday, June 13, 2018 with a funeral service at 12PM at the Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Rd, and officiated by Pastor Gerald Justice. Interment to follow in the Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
