WILBUR CARRUTH Obituary

WILBUR
CHESTER
CARRUTH, 78

EAGLE LAKE - Wilbur Chester Carruth, 78 of Eagle Lake, FL passed away on March 29, 2021 from complications of Covid-19 and heart failure. He was born on January 4, 1943 in Winter Haven, FL to Willard and Marie Carruth. Chester graduated Winter Haven High School in 1961 and then enlisted into the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Newport News CA-148. During his time with the Navy, he was a Ham Radio operator and served aboard the USS Newport News during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. After his service was completed, Chester operated his own company called Precision Petroleum servicing fuel stations with installation and maintenance. He eventually began working for Quality Petroleum in Lakeland, FL where he finished his career and retired, focusing on his hobby of Amateur Radio as AB4XK. Wilbur Carruth, or 'Chet' as he was known by his friends, was a hardworking and kind man who would help anyone that needed it. He could make or fix anything and devoted much of his free time to building a beautiful home for his family. He would often say, 'Can't never could' and applied that thinking to everything in life. He was devoted to God and a member of the Inman Park Church of Christ. He was great father, husband, neighbor, and friend to everyone that was blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his loving wife Marilyn Kay Carruth. He is survived by his son, Steven Carruth and Steven's wife Vanessa and their kids, Lexi and CJ Casullo of Fort Lauderdale. He is also survived by his brother, Freddie Carruth of Eloise, Florida, niece Melissa Gonzalez of Winter Haven and his beloved dog Charley.
A celebration of life memorial is being planned and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to make a donation, should send it to Inman Park Church of Christ 1750 6th Street Winter Haven, FL 33881.

Dear Steven and Family, Chester & kay were our beloved friends for 50+ years. We are holding all of you in our hearts and prayers at this sad time. Chester was a kind and gentle man. He had a quick wit, a practical and inquisitive mind & a devotion to his family and his God. Steve and I will miss our telephone chats and his e-mails. We will treasure our memories of times shared. " We cannot feel life's losses without first feeling the blessings of its fullness." Always with affection, Steve & Wanda
