Jannie Preddy Obituary

Jannie Catherine Harris Preddy was born on June 5, 1940 in Sampson County, and was a resident of Granville County for 78 years. She served at Brassfield Baptist Church since 1945, fulfilling various roles such as Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and church organist for 40 years. Jannie was a dedicated member of "Women on Missions," actively involved in many ministries.

Jannie pursued her education at East Carolina University, where she earned her degree in Education and later her Masters in Administration. She embarked on her teaching career at Creedmoor Elementary as a 2nd-grade teacher. Throughout her career, she transitioned to the Central Office as a supervisor and then became the Principal at Wilton Elementary. She retired as the Director of Instruction at Northern Granville Middle School, after serving for 30 years in Granville County Public Schools.

For 52 years, Jannie remained a faithful member of Delta Kappa Gamma, actively serving in various leadership roles within the Beta Phi Chapter. Additionally, she was a member of the NC Retired School Personnel, holding leadership positions during her 30-year membership.

Volunteering was a passion for Jannie. She found joy in serving at the Flat River Baptist Church and Community Ministry Thrift Shop. She dedicated her time working with the daily organizing and participating in special events hosted by the ministry.

Jannie was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend and Christian. Following her retirement, she dedicated herself to caring for her grandchildren until they reached school age. She instilled in them values of kindness, forgiveness, family, and a love for Christ. Jannie enjoyed baking, her flower gardens, and spending time outdoors. Her family was the love of her life.

Jannie selflessly put the needs of her family, friends, and church above her own. She was known for her energy, supportiveness, encouragement, and patience. Always ready to lend a helping hand, she greeted others with a smile and kind words. Her unwavering faith provided her with strength, making her an inspiration to all who knew her.

Jannie is survived by her loving husband Jimmy of 62 years, her beloved sons Glenn (Joelle), and Jeff (Vickie) and her cherished five grandchildren: Mary Catherine Montgomery (John), Annie Glen Willis (Cameron), Harrison, Carter and Jackson Preddy and one great-grandchild Vivienne Montgomery.

Jannie was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mabel Harris, her sister Lucy Maie Parker and her nephew Brent Parker.

The family would like to thank Duke Hospice and Quality Faith Home Care Agency for their outstanding care, love, and support.
