Sharon Roseme Obituary

Sharon Roseme
6/8/2010

Sharon Roseme , a fifth generation native of Placer County California died peacefully of natural causes at her home in Newcastle, California, on June 8, 2010, at the age of 56.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Hilary Glenn, a native of Loomis, California; her brother Eric Roseme, also a resident of Loomis and Auburn Native; sister Karen Roseme of Mammoth Lakes; and Mother Diane Day of Los Altos. She is also survived by her long time companion Michael Meyer of Sacramento.
A lifetime resident of Northern California, Sharon was a proud product of that state's superb educational heyday. She was allegedly conceived in a Studebaker at Strawberry Canyon on the UC Berkeley campus and finished her schooling at Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law after graduating with degrees in linguistics and psychology from UC Santa Cruz. Sharon's original plan to use the law to save the world was sidetracked by a 30 year career in commercial real estate law inspired by visiting professor John Costonis. He described the practice as skillfully conducting a symphony of diverse and warring players: landowners, developers, government and users. She pioneered the world's largest public retirement system's initial investments in real estate. She was the first woman and one of the youngest real estate lawyers honored by her peers in the Best Lawyers in America. She was passionately devoted to her career and her law firm, MHA of Sacramento. Sharon was also passionately devoted to her heritage in Placer County and championed many local issues such as trails, open space, affordable housing, education, and women and children's issues, particularly after her retirement in 1993. Sharon believed in family ritual and tradition. She spent time every summer at Lake Tahoe engaging in the traditional hikes to Eagle Lake, the Angora Lakes, and the family pastime of crawdad fishing, ensuring that her daughter Hilary did the same. Thanksgiving and Christmas menus and their traditions were almost sacrosanct, as was placing flowers on the ancestral grave of her grandmother Alice Slade Day every memorial day.
Sharon took up running late in her life and ran thousands of miles with companion Michael Meyer at home and everywhere they traveled. She joined Michael in hundreds of races and sometimes finished before dead last. Her proudest sports achievement was the swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco, which she completed.
Sharon traveled the world, achieved highest honors in her law profession, excelled in her educational pursuits, raised a talented and radiant daughter, and made many diverse friendships, but always returned to her birthplace and home of the Loomis Basin. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

I am shocked and very sad. I just had the opportunity to meet her and Mike and now she is gone. I kept emailing her with no response which is unlike her. She is the most unselfish giving person I have ever met.
My prayers & blessings to Sharon's family! This truely is a loss.

I was surprised and saddened to hear of Sharon's passing. I worked with her at MH&A for almost 20 years and was always impressed with her intelligence and masterful handling of the English language. I often read her writings with a dictionary in hand. She was a loss to the legal community when she retired and a loss to the world when she passed on.

To Sharon's Family and Loved Ones:
I was so sorry to hear about Sharon and wish to send my heart-felt condolences to you.
I knew Sharon way back in school, starting at Eastbrook and continuing on through our graduation from Awalt HS. What I remember most about Sharon was that she was smart, funny, sophisticated, and very self-confident. She traveled thru lots of different circles, not limiting herself to any one group or clique. I was kind of nerdy and awkward, but she was impressive. And from what I've read about her in the obituary, she led a wonderful life and was quite spectacular! Again my condolences to all of you for this terrible loss. I hope you'll find great comfort in many joyful memories of Sharon.
Sincerely,

Peter Frank

Dear Diane, Karen, Eric, and Hilary: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Sharon. Although I have not seen her in a long time, she and I were best friends for many years. We met in 5th grade and spent countless hours riding horses and having adventures. She was smart, creative, bold and ambitious. The fun we had together will be with me always.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Sharon. She was a professional and personal friend of mine. We last communicated in February via email. Even though I don't live in CA any longer, she was very good at staying in touch. She was always there to help me. She was a giver. I am grateful to have known her. She was a gift in my life. My thoughts and sympathies go to her family and friends.

Sharon was a lovely person to work with at MHA. She was always nice and pleasant to me and I enjoyed hearing about her travels around the world. Her love for her daughter Hilary, family and animals always came first. May she rest in peace.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Sharon's death. Unfortunately, Diane, I have lost both addresses and email for you. I cannot imagine any worse grief than having a child die before the parent. My thoughts are with you and Eric, Karen,Hilary, and Michael. Love, Barbara and Charles Minor
