ABRAM VELA PHARR - Abram Vela, 63, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. Mr. Vela was born in McAllen and had lived in Pharr all of his life. He is preceded in death by a son, Abram Vela, Jr.; his father, Andres Vela; and a sister, Maria Cuellar. Mr. Vela is survived by his wife, Julia Vela; a son, Adrian (Maria De La Luz) Vela; three daughters, Janie Vela, Mariam (Roman) Ochoa, Christina Vela; two granddaughters, Delilah and Danika; his mother, Marina Vela; two brothers, Andres Vela, Armando Vela; and four sisters, Ramona Garza, Francisca Garcia, Juana Rivera and Angelita Sandoval. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, January 15, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
