Ann Foerster Obituary

McAllen, TX - Ann Sharon Foerster, 85, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at McAllen Transitional Care Center in McAllen, Texas.

Born on December 31, 1939, Ann grew up in Alamo. She attended PSJA High School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, and later graduated as valedictorian from Pan American University in 1962 with a B.A. in English. She went on to earn a Master of Education from Texas College of Arts and Industries.

Ann made McAllen her home for over 50 years. She spent nearly three decades teaching English at Lincoln Middle School. She had a special passion for working with students with learning differences, finding great meaning in helping them discover their confidence and potential. For her, their breakthroughs were the greatest rewards of teaching.

A lifelong learner and voracious reader, Ann was intellectually curious, politically engaged, and deeply committed to causes she believed in. She also loved to travel, exploring major cities across the U.S. and Europe with the same curiosity and spirit she brought to the classroom.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Leota White, and her husband, William Foerster. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Foerster and Matthew Foerster; grandchildren, Xander and Eliza Feigenbaum; and her brother Tom White and sister Pamela Hensley.

A memorial service will be held in McAllen in late November to celebrate Ann's life and legacy.

What a lovely lady ... You will be missed by many.... One of your top accomplishments was raising a wonderful, kind, caring and giving son.

I am so sorry to hear about Ann. I remember her fondly from the time when I was in high school with her sister. A wonderful lady. Sending prayers to the family.

Ann and I worked together at Lincoln; our classrooms were next to each other. We were good friends, but I left Lincoln, and we didn't see much of each other as too often happens. I have thought of her often and wondered what she was doing.

My sincere condolences to Matt and Kimberly and family. Your mom was a special lady and will be missed.

Mrs Foerster was my teacher in 1965-66 at Donna ISD. She was right out of college, but she knew how to handle a bunch of country kids. She was strict but fair. Later she taught my son in McAllen at Lincoln Middle School. She loved to teach. My sympathy to Matt and the Foerster family. I am glad to have known her.
