Mission - Bonnie Sue Dodd passed away February 10, 2023 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Sue was born March 10, 1945 in Mercedes, Texas to Callie and Lara Bell Cox. She attended high school at Locust Grove High School, Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
Lee Dodd and Sue were married January 1, 1966 in Wichita, KS. Lee passed away in the fall of 2019. They were married 53 years.
Sue went to work at Beech Aircraft, Wichita, in September 1963 and retired in April 2007. Lee and Sue square danced for 25 years. They bought an antique Hudson car from Sue's Dad and then joined the local Hudson club. From that they joined the International Hudson club with 4000 members in the US plus 31 foreign countries with all members owning at least one Hudson. Sue and Lee ran the Hudson Memorabilia Store for many years. They were also President and Secretary of the Rio Grande Valley Activity Directors for about 11 years.
Sue ran a Miss Kansas preliminary pageant in the Miss America program and trained contestants from all over the state how to interview not only for a judge's interview but for a future job. Lee and Sue also ran a Miss Center City Pageant, a Miss Kansas preliminary, for several years. Sue was the Co-Director and was very active with the judging and assisting with the other pageants for 20+ years. Prior to that, she taught modeling at Patricia Steven's School of Modeling in Wichita, Kansas.
Sue enjoyed collecting porcelain commemorative hand-made dolls. She also loved eating out with friends and catalog shopping.
Sue is survived by sons, John (Peggy) of Paragould, Arkansas and James of Rector, Arkansas; grandsons, Randall of Brookland and Colby (Sonya) now residing in Germany; and nephews, Rick Dodd of Manassas, Virginia and Danny (Linda) Dodd of Bristol, CT.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th St. in McAllen, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at 10:00am at the Kreidler Funeral Home Chapel, same address. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery at 1201 S. Main St, McAllen, TX.
Sue was a strong supporter of local charities. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Sue's memory to the Penitas Food Pantry.
