BRADLEY GARZA Obituary

BRADLEY ARNOLDO GARZA ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. / MISSION, TX - Bradley Arnoldo Garza died June 21, 2014 at the Wellesley Island, N.Y. State Park. He was born September 15, 1963 in Mission, TX to Manuel N. and Jane Hauk Garza. He graduated from Mission High School and attended Pan American University while working in the family business, Manuel Garza Industries. While attending Pan American University, Bradley earned a 2nd Lieutenant's Commission through ROTC which served him well as later he was assigned to the Mission National Guard. Following that he was stationed at Fort Sill, OK, for Officers Training School, and then during the Gulf War he was stationed at Fort Ord, CA where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Upon returning to Mission from the Gulf War Mr. Garza joined the Border Patrol/Homeland Security and worked in El Paso for approximately 10 years before being transferred to Wellesley Island for another almost 10 years. Bradley will be remembered for his great smile and his special way of being amusing; yet, he was very dedicated and serious when it was time for work. He had special skills and an intuition for noticing problems when others around him were not able to detect any. Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his father, Manuel N. Garza, paternal grandparents Santos and Teodora Garza and maternal grandparents Herold W. Hauk and Mary Lou Hauk Abrams. Left to cherish his memory are his special love, Julie Wade and her daughter, Marissa, of Alexandria Bay, N.Y., his two daughters, Victoria (Kevin) Ujueta of San Antonio, TX and Brooke Ray of McKinney, TX, the most precious persons of his life. Surviving him also is his grandson, Easton Ray of McKinney whom he adored. In addition, Bradley is survived by his mother, Jane Hauk Garza (Antonio Longoria), his brothers Brent (Sandra) Garza, and Brian Garza all of the Mission area. Surviving too, are his nephews, Brandon (Crystal) Garza and Corbin Garza, both of Mission. Nieces who survive him are Candace (Jesse) Garza Gleaton, of Tulsa, OK, Jordynn Garza and Linsey Garza of Mission. Grand nephews and nieces who survive him are Isaiah, Noah, Alexia, and Blake Gleaton of Tulsa, OK and Sophie Garza of Mission, TX, his uncles Larry Hauk, Bloomington, IN, Jerry (Pam) Hauk, Greenwood, IN, Alonzo Garza, Brownsville, TX and Jose (Carmen) Garza of Mission, his aunt, Frances Flournoy of San Antonio, TX. There are many cousins who survive him as well. Also surviving are Pam Reed of San Antonio, TX, Shelli Ingram Ray of Plano, TX, Cynthia Pena and her daughter, Cassandra of the McAllen, TX area. Bradley had a unique manner of being friendly to all, and always loved to cook a special delicious meal for all his colleagues, friends and family. At the time of his death, he was doing what he enjoyed so much, fishing in the St. Lawrence Seaway or at one of the many lakes surrounding the Wellesley Island area. He would take time to go fishing if 5 minutes was all the time he had, and he loved teaching his nieces and nephews and other children how to fish. He thought it was "good sport" to play tricks on his friends. He really enjoyed being a trickster. Those who knew him well were often targets of his trickery. Bradley had a special bond with animals of all kinds including scorpions, rattlesnakes and the common alley cat, but most of all he bonded with his special dogs and roosters. He truly loved all of nature, especially the waterways and lush, green areas during summer around Wellesley Island. Bradley will be sorely missed by his beloved family and all his many friends and colleagues. It will seem to us that a bright light has been turned off forever. Pallbearers will be Brandon Garza, Corbin Garza, Kevin Ujueta, Rick Lopez, Jason Wetzel and Troy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Candace Garza Gleaton, Jordynn Garza, Linsey Garza, Tim Waggoner, Oliverio Mauricio, Luis Casas, Walter French, and the Homeland Security Unit at Wellesley Island, N.Y. Visitation will be held from 3-9p.m. with a 7p.m. rosary, today, June 29, 2014 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral mass will be held at 10a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Mission. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
