Daniel Codina Obituary

McAllen - Dan's earthly journey has come to an end. Born on December 9, 1955, in McAllen, he ventured to California in the 1970's and served a few years in the Navy until his honorable discharge in 1975. He returned to Texas and lived in McAllen the last 45 years.

On November 13, 2024, Dan was riding his bicycle a half mile from his home when he was hit by a vehicle. He did not survive. His life was abruptly interrupted, not planned nor foreseen; but Dan died as he lived as a man of faith. No need for a chronicle of life; but to those who knew him, his generous heart is remembered.

Dan was single with no children, and he lived alone with his dogs which he described as family. Dan was the youngest of five siblings, survived by two, Richard Codina from Sacramento, California, and Robert Codina from McAllen. Parents were Rodrigo and Annie Codina. A funeral Mass, a celebration of life, is scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will be scheduled for a later date. Please no flowers, only prayers, good memories, and your presence if able to attend.

Oh Danny. RIP. I am reflecting on all the football games I had with you and your brothers. I also remember your grandmother who introduced me to flour tortillas when we lived across the street from you.
