EDNA HERNANDEZ RIO GRANDE CITY - Edna Hernandez entered into eternal rest on Thursday October 08, 2015 at her residence at the age of 76. Born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Los Saenz, Texas to Adulfo and Delfina Munoz Edna had lived in Rio Grande City for most of her life. Edna was an elementary school teacher for more than 25 years having taught at Ringgold elementary and Ringgold Jr High, Roque Guerra Elementary, North Grammar Elementary , La Union Elementary and La Grulla Elementary. She was a member of the Immaculate Concepcion Catholic Church , a member of the Starr County Hospital Auxiliary and other countless organizations. Edna lived life to its fullest. She will be dearly missed by her family and those that came to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Aminta Munoz MaCal, Adulfo Munoz Jr. and Nance Elliot Munoz Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 49 yrs. Mr. Raul Hernandez, a son Dr. Raul Gerardo Hernandez and his wife Esmeralda, her three loving granddaughters Cassandra, Elliana, and Katherine Hernandez. Also two sisters Maria Hilda Munoz of Roma and Olga Munoz Donnelly of Zapata as well as numerous of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Hernandez Funeral Chapel of Remembrance,701 East Eisenhower, Rio Grande City, on Saturday Oct. 10, 2015 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm and on Sunday Oct. 11, 2015 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm The recital of the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM both evenings. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday Oct. 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Concepcion Church. Burial will follow to the St John's Cemetery.
