ERMA IRLENE TRANSMEIER
Funeral services for Erma Irlene Transmeier, 93, McAllen, TX. will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence, KS. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Village Care Center in McAllen, Texas. She was born on Oct 30, 1914 in Billings, Oklahoma. Irlene was raised and educated in Lawrence, Kansas. She married Clarence Transmeier March 4, 1933 of Lecompton, Kansas. As a homemaker and mother, Irlene lived her life devoted to others. She helped her husband build and operate hotels in Hutchinson, Ks, Walsenburg, Co, and Nevada, Mo. From 1980, Irlene and Clarence enjoyed retirement with their many friends in Mission, Texas. Irlene's passion and hobby was oil painting. Looking at her paintings will be a cherished memory of her life. Irlene confessed her greatest life achievement was that she "overcame smoking and drinking with the help of our Lord; one day at a time."
Friends may call Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. where the family will receive them from 7 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Salvation Army or Rio Grande Children's Home, 3780 N Bentsen Palm Drive, Mission, Texas 78574. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Transmeier, December 2, 1994.
Irlene is survived by her daughter, Sondra LePome of Mission Tx, and her sons Larry Transmeier of Raymore, Mo and Ross Transmeier of Grand Junction, Co. She will be greatly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
