Her parents were Carl Otto and Lettie Hines Berny. She grew up on a farm, attended school in Edinburg having graduated in 1945, and then graduated from Edinburg Junior College in 1947. She worked at the Texas Highway Dept. in Pharr prior to her marriage to Tommy Bentsen October 6, 1949. In 1965, she began working at First State Bank of Mission for 28 1/2 years before retiring. On September 24, 2005, Helen married for a second time to Donald Reinhardt after being associated with him in Sunday School class at church as well as seeing each other at museum meetings plus a few other things. They both loved to travel and did a lot of that after they married.

So sorry for the loss of HELEN. I met her through her son Scott. We spent a wonderful day at the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina. The memories of that weekend will last forever for me. I´m so sorry to hear about her passing. Love you HELEN.

We met Helen back in the 80´s when she and her husband, Tommy would bring groups to The Christmas House & Santa´s Texas Workshop at Falfurrias, Texas. My two sisters and I were owners and operators!
After Tommy´s death, she continued to come each Christmas season. Eventually, she and Donald Reinhardt continued the tradition!

I never realized that the oldest of us 3 sisters was the same age as Helen. Born in 1927, she passed away on October 31, 2022.

Helen was so faithful to send a card and newsletter every Christmas.

My living sister is now 93, and I (age 80) still send out cards from the two of us. Helen´s name and address are still on my list.

She notified us when Tommy passed away and also when Don passed! There was no one who knew we would miss her.

I´m doing an update of my list, so decided to Google Helen and found her obituary!

She was a beautiful person both inside and out!!

The Minten Sisters,
Esther and Janie

Sharp, detailed, keen-minded and a very sweet and dignified bearing. These are qualities I carry on about Helen. Being with her was something like a visit with your favorite aunt. We shared many acquaintances, so stories of old days were frequently discussed. Great respect for how she loved her Lord and church, the countless hours of volunteer work and the very generous giving of her own fruits. Incredible person, eternally remembered ! Her lineage is greatly blessed.

I met Helen in the 80s when I was living in Mission. Always was a pleasure to see her as a greeter at the McAllen Community Concerts for many years. Helen and Tommy were our customer in Levine's in Weslaco, and we always enjoyed their visits to our store. We both were members of the Mission Historical Museum, where I saw her the last time. My condolences to her family,

Offering my deepest sympathies on the passing of Ms. Helen. May she rest in peace. It was my pleasure to have met Ms. Helen while she work at 1st State Bank. I always appreciated her friendship. She was always welcoming and always willing to assist with questions on my account. May the many memories of her warm her family's heart and bring smiles to their faces. Sincerely, Melba D. Garza
