I knew Butch and Bobby at Baylor, Butch was a sophomore when I was a freshman but he was very kind to me as I went out for freshman football and he was watching our practice early on, and was surprised to see me snapping the ball and working in the linebacker area. I was 5 9 and about 150 lbs (weighed 140 in high school). He admired my willingness to go up against the bigger guys, but he and Hayden Fry (who was an asst coach for the varsity) talked me into switching to defensive back. Butch went on to become an All American and he never changed, he was the same guy I knew at the beginning. He was a fierce competitor on the field, but a very gracious guy off the field. We talked several times over those years and he was always helpful

Butch and I were old friends from Mount Vernon, Texas. And, during our days of being football teammates as "Mount Vernon Fighting Tigers" Butch always seemed to be one of my main encouragers even though he was two years behind me. And, this "team spirit" of Butch's surely paid off in the long run as he was named as all-District center after our 1956 season, even though he was only a Sophomore at the time. And, of course, he later went on to even more football greatness at Baylor University. May our gracious God comfort the family of Butch in his loss.

I enjoyed working for him so much!! He was a great boss, and a great friend. When he owned Global Tour Company, boy, did he make work fun. It was the greatest job I've ever had. He was a great guy to work for. Loved it when he would invite us to the old Country Omelette for his "bisquits and gravy". We worked long hard hours back then, and he worked right along with us. He was a great man. I am thankful for the years I worked with him.

May the love and compassion of the Lord fill your hearts. We shall always remember all the afternoons at the football practice field and all the Saturday mornings our children and grandchildren played We all huddled around Jim cheering the
young boys on to Victory. We know he will
be coaching all the next plays from Heaven.
Go Jim.
