Javier Hernandez Obituary

San Antonio - RIO GRANDE CITY- Javier Hernandez, 56, was called by the Lord on Monday afternoon, June 5, 2017, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas.

Javier was born on October 28, 1960, in Roma, Texas, to Sgt. Gustavo Hernandez (+) and Maria Clelia Garcia Hernandez (+).

He is survived by his two brothers, Gustavo Jose (Diana) Hernandez of Rio Grande City, Eloy "Mousy" Garcia of Rio Grande City, and his sister, Clelia "Princy" (Blas) Chapa of Rio Grande City. He is also survived by his son Javier David "J.D." (Janeth) Hernandez of Chicago, Illinois/Rio Grande City. Other survivors include 6 nephews and nieces, and 6 grandchildren.

Javier was a graduate of Rio Grande City High School. He was employed as an A/C Technician for the Rio Grande City CISD, and then joined the United States Navy. He proudly served abroad the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. A great friend... a man with a big heart! He will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be today Friday, June 9, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. A rosary will be given on Friday at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church of Rio Grande City, TX. Burial will follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Please pray for him and his family. Services are under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City.
