Laurentina R. Juarez

Mission - Laurentina Ramos Juarez died peacefully at the age of 98 at her home and entered into eternal peace. Born and raised in Salineno, Texas, she was a child who cared deeply for her family. Although she lacked formal education past the age of 12 due to childhood illness, she helped raise and taught her siblings how to read and write both in English and in Spanish. Following a three-year mail correspondence courtship at the end of World War II, she married her husband, Benito Juarez, and moved to his family homestead at La Brisa Ranch, near Delmita, Texas.

On the ranch they went on to raise five home-birthed children, teaching them Christian values, the need for formal education and a strong work ethic in order for them to achieve their goals. Never rich in material wealth, she taught them early on how to be resourceful, seek happiness, and to enjoy life. She served as a good role model to her children by working hard, attaining her GED in her middle age years, and serving in community leadership activities.

Our mother was a beautiful, witty, assertive, and lovely woman who enjoyed music, dancing, word search puzzles, reading, and traveling with her children. She will be greatly missed as she was the "glue" who kept the close-knit family relationships and traditions alive. Waiting to be reunited in heaven with her family, she is preceded in death by her husband, Benito Juarez; her parents, Esteban and Rita Gonzales Ramos; her brothers, Cecilio Ramos, Carlos Ramos, Leonel Ramos, and two sisters, Zoila R. Chapa and Carolina R. Pena. One infant grandson, Javier Benito Guerra, also pre-deceased her. She is survived by her children: Irma J. (+Joe E.) Garza of Palmhurst, Esperanza J. (John) Brattin of McAllen, Criselda J. (Dario III) Guerra of San Isidro and Mission, Alma J. (+ Paulino) Munoz of Mission and Jose Joel (Ilianna) Juarez of Mission.

Grandma Lala was especially adored by her twelve grandchildren who enjoyed listening to her stories, positive outlook on life and mischievous sense of humor: Grand-daughters-Tracy Brattin (Derek) Gerdes, Krista Garza (Anthony)Garcia, Karina Munoz, and Laura Ilissa Juarez. Her Grandsons will also have the honor of serving as her pallbearers: Dario Guerra IV, Ricky (Susan) Guerra, Erik(Emily) Guerra, Michael (Cindy)Garza, Roberto (Melissa)Munoz, Stephen Buck(Heather) Guerra, Paul(Kat) Munoz, and Julio Javier(Cassandra) Juarez.

Mrs. Juarez is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ramiro Ramos of Atkins, Texas.

The family would like to thank all of her friends and health-care providers who visited and/or helped her during her final years: Especially the nurses and staff of Contigo Hospice, Narcet Tamez, Cristina Ramirez, Gracie Salinas and Araceli Potter. Rosie de la Garza attended to her at-home spiritual needs on a regular basis. Father Roy Snipes , a close family friend supported her with prayers, blessings, and annoitments which provided her with much comfort and hope for an eternal life with Jesus Christ.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a 6pm rosary at Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission. Graveside service will take place on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10:30am at Juarez Family Cemetery in Delmita, Texas.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission.
