Luis Delgado Obituary
EDINBURG - Luis "Don Luis" Delgado Sr., 90, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Life Care Hospital - North in McAllen, Texas. He was born on August 25, 1917 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Juan B. Delgado and Maria Cardona.
He is survived by his sons, Roberto (Maria) Delgado, Mauro (Leonor Noelia) Delgado, Juan (Lucy) Delgado, Judge Rudy (Diana) Delgado, and Dr. Luis (Carmen) Delgado Jr.; daughters, Margarita Salas, Hermila (Jose) Rodriguez, Raquel (J.R.) Gaitan, and Gloria (Isaac) Santos; sister, Ernestina (Eladio) Mancias; 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Luis is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leonor B. Delgado; son, Onesimo Delgado; grandsons, Jaime Delgado and Roman David Delgado; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Luis was a respectful man and was well respected himself. He was a member of the Capilla San Jose Catholic Church in Edinburg. He loved carpentry, playing pool, and dancing. He was an energetic yet strict man, who was a joy to his family. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all those whose lives he touched.
Family received friends on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 12 to 9 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg, with a rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Christian Mass will be held today, June 7, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Serving as pallbearers will be Rudy Daniel Delgado, Luis Vincente Delgado, Juan Albert Delgado, Luis Lauro Delgado, Ruben Martinez Jr., and Nick Delgado. Honorary pallbearers will be Roberto B. Delgado, Jorge Salas, and Joe Rodriguez Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made to the: Roman David Delgado Scholorship; C/O Judge Rudy Delgado, 5111 N. 10th, #154, McAllen, Texas 78504. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
