Luis Garza Obituary

Lodi, CA. - Luis Garza Jr., 74, of Lodi, California, passed away early Saturday morning, May 29th, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born June 28th, 1946, in Edinburg, Texas and moved to Lodi in 1963.

Luis was a humble man that never wanted any attention on him. He would do anything for his family, friends, and godchildren. He enjoyed working for Lodi Metal Doors for 15 years and at General Mills in Lodi for 34 years. He always said he went to work to "Rest". Over the years, living in Lodi, he enjoyed bowling, playing softball, golfing, trips to the casino, spending time with his son's children, and traveling to Texas to visit family or annually flying to see his granddaughter in Canada for her birthday.

His youth was spent mostly in Edinburg, Texas but he also traveled to Indiana, Michigan and California with his parents. He never forgot about Lodi, California, so at the age of 16 years old he moved there and got a job at Bare Ranch.

Luis will be truly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Elodia Morin Garza; along with two children; Cynthia (Ted) Sklarchuk of the Comox Valley, (Vancouver Island) B.C. Canada, Melchor (Cecilia) Garza of Lodi, California, four grandchildren, Penelope Asnault, Nola Vyna Sklarchuk, Angel Luis Garza, Quentin John Garza, his brother Melchor Garza of Edinburg, Texas; and many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.

His family is at peace, knowing he is in Heaven with his parents Luis and Josefina Garza, his sisters Beatriz Salcido, Nicolasa Flores, and Socorro Garces, and no longer in pain.

At Luis's request the family will not hold services. We would like to thank family, friends, medical professionals and the Hospice of San Joaquin for all their support. Donations in honor of Luis Garza Jr. should be made to Hospice of San Joaquin online at www.hospicesj.org or mail donations to Hospice San Joaquin 3888 Pacific Ave, Stockton California 95204.

Luis was a humble and honorable man. He was dedicated to the Lord, his family and his work.. He always would take in any family member in distress. Luis would always make us feel at home when Lydia and I would visit. We had great times in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and Lodi numerous times. Humorous in his own special subtle way. And a slight smirk. We will miss him him dearly. May God bless his soul and sustain his family.
