Michael Harrison Obituary

Edinburg - Michael C. Harrison, 73, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX.

He was born in Milwaukee, WI and grew up in Columbus, OH. Mr. Harrison proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, thereafter he resided in Lubbock where he graduated and received his Master's Degree in Communications from Texas Tech University and also worked as a university professor teaching communications. He then moved to Austin, TX, where he was employed by Texas Rehabilitation Commission and Texas Youth Commission. He made a career move and transferred to Edinburg and was employed at the Evins Regional Juvenile Center for several years.

During his early years in Edinburg he became actively involved in various community organizations including Easter Seals of the RGV. He served from 1998 to 2004 and was President in 2003-2004.

Mike had the heart of a servant and was a devoted Christian. He was a friend to many and practiced the Lord's direction with diligence and respect. His greatest asset was that he listened closely and was always willing to pray with those in need without hesitation. Mike was a son, father, grandfather and husband, a mentor to many including his five loving children. He leaves a legacy of faith, character and laughter.

There are many words to describe Mike, but no words to fully describe his love for the Lord and his family. His wit, laugh, smile and vibrant personality will be deeply missed but not forgotten. His favorite past time was spending time with his children, grandchildren and last but not least, traveling to Las Vegas with his wife in hopes of winning the BIG one.

Mr. Harrison is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marjorie Harrison; and a brother, Patrick Harrison.

Mike will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Norma Linda Harrison; his five children, Dr. Ryan C. (Jessica) Harrison, Holly L. (Jeff) Harrison, Christian A. (Nicole) Trevino, Robert L. (Priscilla) Trevino, Michael A. Harrison; three grandchildren; his two loving pups, Coco and Brandy; his brother Thomas (Ramona) Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Private family interment will take place at a later date at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, with full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Regional Bible College, 510 E. Van Week St. in Edinburg, c/o Dr. David J. Hoyte.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
