I remember going to visit Grandma every Sunday and every holiday. She made the best rice with raisins. She always sliced an apple for us to share. I remember how she always asked "Lila quieres cafe?" she would drink coffee and sit talking with mom and any of my aunts that visited. She had her white Doves and her Rabbits. She would take care of her plants. She was always happy to see us. and when it was time for us to leave she would always wave at us and blow kisses. The last time I went by to visit I was too late and she had already gone. I will always remember the Goodness that was in her heart. I feel so sad knowing I will not see her again when I visit. We were so lucky to have her as long as we did and I am thankful that she was my Grandma Mona.

Well, almost a year has gone by since My Grandma Mona has been gone and there is a void that no one can fill, a void that is there, yet I try to ignore wishing and hoping that My Grandma is sitting in her recliner anxiously awaiting someone drop in for a visit and that on my next trip to the Valley I will see her again. I guess it is easier thinking that she is home since I am living far away from her and I also think It's DENIAL on my part, because I wish and hope that she is waiting for me to come and sit with her if only for a short visit. There is no more Grandma Mona to send flowers to on her upcoming Birthday this year. I refuse to drop some off @ the Cemetary, I know that she isn't there to say "Ayy, Gracias Adalia, estan muy bonitas y que orlocito tan dulce tienen estas flores." I know she enjoyed every single Boquet of flowers anyone would bring her, whether they were from a flower shop, someones garden or wild flowers from the side of the road or even if it was a handfull of "cebolletas" from Uncle Dan's corrales that would pop up when there was too much rain. Just to see her face light up with a BIG smile when we walked in with flowers in hand, PRICELESS! I'll never be able to put my arms around her and never will she plant those millions of kisses upon our faces again. For those who still have their Grandparents on this Earth, Please make the best of what time you still have and enjoy your loved to the fullest and shower them with love. I can truly say that I was blessed with the best Grandma ever. I hear people tell me of their experiences with their grandparents and some are not even close to what I had and that is why I say that I HAD THE BEST GRANDMA anyone could dream of having. Mamita Mona, please keep a watchful eye on my Mom & Tia Queta, those 2 seem to be the ones that need it the most with their health being in such bad shape. I love you always and will miss you forever.

A week ago my Grandma Mona would've been celebrating her 99th birthday. I would've called the Flower shop and ordered her a HUGE bouquet of Flowers. Lots of flowers of all kinds and very fragrant too. I enjoyed sending her flowers and I also enjoyed hearing the excitement in her voice over the telephone as she was telling me that the flowers were very pretty and smelled good too. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, and for many years back I would call her on my mom's birthday and thank her for having my mom, and because she gave birth to her, My mom was able to have 8 children of her own. And for that I was forever thankful. This year I won't be able to make that yearly call to my grandmother, but next time I go to the Valley I will take her a bouquet of flowers to her grave since I don't think the flower shop will deliver to the cemetery. I miss my grandmother very much, she will forever live in our hearts.

My best memories about my grandmother(mamita),she had somthing inher that she always had that special love for evryone in the family and especially for her children, granchildren, great granchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Which she loved dearly. She always had hugs and kisses for everyone whether you were related or not. She always had a smile on her face, when her whole family were around especialy when everyone would gather together for a family reunion .I also remember her cooking that mexican white rice and also that every wedding or quincenera she would attend too halfway thru the night she would be told okey mom lets go and she would respon back by saying NO ASTA QUE TOCEN LAS GOLONDRINAS.

My fondest memory of my great-grandma Ramona is when she referred to me as her "BLUCITO" becasue she would say that I resembled my late uncle Albert aka Blue. She also called me "DIGANLE" her way of saying DYLAN. When We were visiting from Hoosten, like she would say it, she would smother me with kisses and hugs and she was always happy to see us. I can still see her sitting in her living room on her recliner waiting for someone to come visit her. When I visited her house, I would go outside and climb up on the OLD FASHIONED TREADMILL, and my sister Ahndee and I would push each other off it because we wanted to play on it longer than the other. I liked to run down hill to Uncle Dan's farm and see the animals. Great-grandma had what seemed like millions cats that wouldn't let you catch them. If we asked Great-grandma if we could have a cat to take home, she would say "SI, si lo puedes pescar porque son muy ladinos." The cats were too wild and not used to being held or being around people, and they would scram and not let us catch them. I also remember the family gatherings at her house and seeing everyone there having a good time. My mom liked to send my great-grandmother flowers on special occasions because she knew that great-grandma liked flowers. I am going to miss her very much. I am just glad to have had such a wonderful great-grandma that was happy to see me, as I was to see her too.

I remember countless trips to Great-Grandma's House. I loved visiting her, being greeted with a thousand kisses and a warm embrace. I have so many fond memories but one in particular sticks out in my mind. It's really a funny story.... I was 4 years old and sitting inside Great-Grandma's kitchen bored and restless. So I wandered outside to find something to do, and I found it, Cats! And more Cats! They were in so many colors! One particularly white fluffy cat had ambled up into the front window of Great-Grandma's house. It was trapped in a cage of burglar bars.....I stuck my entire head between the burglar bars to get the now hissing cat. The cat scrammed and I didn't; my head was stuck between the burglar bars! I panicked and started to aggressively tug my head this way and that, but to no avail. I did the only thing I knew to do at 4 years old; I screamed and wailed and cried. And to the rescue came Tio Daniel; he helped me get my head out. He slathered butter behind my ears and out slipped my head. Great-Grandma of course was delighted in my freedom....Of course I have so many more memories that I treasure close to my heart, but I thought I'd put a smile on someone's face and in someone's heart. Grandma Ramona I love you so much. Everytime I visit the Valley I'll think of seeing you and know that I won't be able to, but I have my memories and my love for you and to me that's good too.

Tia Elida & Family,
I know the pain you might be feeling right now is very painful but its an awesome feeling to know when a person you love reaches the gates of heaven and is allowed in with open arms…in the past 6 months I’ve slowly come to the understanding why God takes the ones we love…but I know he will not give us more then out hearts and mind can bare…Lean not on your own understanding, but trust that God has made the best choice for her…for he knows the plans he has for us…may God Bless you Always, and if there is anything you might need from us just let us know we are here for you at your time of need as you too where there for us…all the kind words you would leave on my grandmothers guest book, left a lasting impression on us. Although I never had the chance to meet your grandmother I know if she’s anything like your mom, in anyway she was a wonderful lady…I will pray for your family and especially your Mom that God will ease her pain… know that your grandma Mona, is in heaven singing with the voice of an angel…and heeled of anything illness you might have had…My God Bless you and Keep you Safe…WE LOVE YOU…

What can I say about my Grandma Mona.. She was the GREATEST woman ever. I cannot recall her saying a mean word about anyone, never scolded us either. She was the kindest, most loving and caring Grandma around. She lived a long life, saw many things, and out-lived many. My Grandma was one of a kind. It saddens me to know I will never be able to call her on her Birthday, Mother's Day or on any occasion to wish her my best or just to hear her voice. I will never get another phone call from her wishing me "FELIZ CUMPEANOS ADALIA" or NOCHE BUENA(the flower)" like her and my Grandfather used to call me because my birthday is on Christmas Day. I will never again walk into her house and be greeted with a million kisses and upon departure be sent off with another million more. My Grandma will be missed dearly by many, but will forever live in our hearts and will be thought of fondly. My Beautiful Grandma like no other, may she rest in peace, for she lived almost a Century. She was 12 1/2 months shy of reaching 100 yrs old. I am honored to have had the GREATEST GRANDMA ever. To My Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Host of other Relatives and to her provider Nora, Thank You for being there for Grandma Mona and always showering her with love and great care. I know that this is a very hard time for everyone and May the love Grandma Mona bestowed upon all of us keep us all together today and always.
