EDINBURG - Rolando Mejia, Jr., 25, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 13, 2014, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston. Rolando was born September 20, 1988 and lived in Edinburg all of his life. He graduated from Edinburg North in 2007 and was currently attending University of Texas at Pan American. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Rosendo Mejia; and maternal grandfather, Guadalupe Martinez. Rolando is survived by his parents, Rolando and Nilda Mejia of Edinburg; a sister, Amanda (Elijah) Soliz of Edinburg; a niece, Hailey Soliz; a nephew, Noah Soliz; paternal grandmother, Herminia Mejia of Edinburg; maternal grandmother, Maria Martinez of Edinburg; and his girlfriend, Emily Fuentes of Edinburg. A rosary was held Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. today, January 16, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
