Darrell Coe Obituary

Darrell “Bert� Coe, age 85, of Alma, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Alma. Bert was born December 2, 1936, in Lansing, the son of Joseph and Vyrah (Silsbury) Coe. He graduated from Alma High School. Bert married the love of his life Brenda Gilpin on Feb. 14, 1959, at the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. He served in the Air Force. He worked as a retail manager for JC Penney and was on the editorial board for the Morning Sun Newspaper. Bert was a Toastmaster, avid reader especially of history and biographies, was well known for his story telling and jokes, huge sports fan of the Tigers and U of M and loved his wife deeply. He is survived by his children Tim (Suzanne) Coe, Bob (Ellen) Coe, Stephen (Melanie) Coe and Tami Coe, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters Sherry (John) Hurt, Sharron (George) Kirkby, brother Ken Coe and many nieces and nephews. Bert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter Laura Coe, brothers William, James, Ronald, Ralph, Arlan and sister Mary Catherine Henderson. “We’re glad we got to see him!� A celebration of life visitation for Bert will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 6-8 pm at the East Superior Christian Church in Alma. Interment with full Military Honors will be held at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
