I remember watching you load our tiny wagon for scouting years ago. How happy you were to be eagle scout. How happy you were to see each boy achieve merit badges. The buddy system in swimming so scouts could learn to swim and boating.
You were a great teacher in school and scouting. The bike rides I love you very much and miss you. To have you go so early to heaven means years without you is still heart breaking. Thanks for the journey. Oh, remember hiking behind young scouts that had heavy backpacks. You and other adults would hold the back packs pressure off the younger scouts shoulders. They didn't know you were there helping carrying their load. Bless you always. Love, your wife, katherine sowle.

Happy to know him as an adult not just a student. 3 of my children had him as a teacher. We learned a lot from him. Very caring.

I was honored to know Doug and commend him for teaching 48 years, not an easy career. I am sure many children grew to fine adults by being in his classes as the best teachers are those that teach life lessons throughout the years consistently. Sandra Lae Ahlgren Poland

Mr. Sowle was my 4th grade teacher. He taught me how to properly fold the American Flag, the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance and many more life lessons. I am truly sad to hear of his passing and hope that his family can find comfort in knowing that he made a difference and his legacy will live on.
