Eloise Fabert Wood, 92, of Riverdale, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at McLaren Central Michigan. Eloise was born on February 28, 1920 in Lake City, Michigan the daughter of Wilbur and Agnes McGee Smith. On July 1, 1938, Eloise married Joseph Wood in Lansing. Joe passed away on December 15, 1991.
Eloise was a resident of the area for over sixty years. She was a homemaker who gave generously of her time and talents. She was a member of the Winn United Methodist Church where she helped with Kids Club and was the craft leader at vacation bible school. She enjoyed square dancing with Joe for over forty years, was a volunteer receptionist for Dr. Sonnad's Free Clinic, a Life Member of the Lumberjack Park Association, and was a 4-H leader, teaching knitting. She was a Foster Grandmother for Vestaburg Schools and Morey Charter School. She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, reading short stories and being with her family and friends. Eloise was very proud of her Scottish heritage.
Survivors include her four children: Sondra Johnson of Riverdale, Richard Wood, and special friend Barb Seman of Mt. Pleasant, Robert and Margie Lynn Wood of Montague, Michigan and Mary and James Paulson of Riverdale, along with 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, two sisters, and an infant brother.
In following Eloise's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for Eloise will be held in the near future, with the date to be announced.
