Gloria Jean Perkins

Gloria Jean Perkins, age 81, of Edmore passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Arbor Grove Assisted Living in Alma. Gloria was born on March 12, 1931 in Corning, Ohio to Eldon and Violet (Slater) Fouts. She came to Edmore at the age of 3-1/2, 1-1/2 years after her mother's death. She spent the rest of her life living within 4-1/2 miles of Edmore.
In 1948, Gloria married her soul mate, Vachel D. Perkins, who preceded her in death in 1991; also preceding her were her parents; loving step-mother, Etola Barber Fouts; sister, Cythia Bailey; and daughter-in-law, Kimberlie Perkins.
Gloria spent 48 years doing book work and accounting; the last 34 years in the family farm office. She also loved sewing, piano, reading and bowling. Gloria had a strong faith in God, having accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 17; faith guided her life.
Gloria leaves her son Gregory and Cathy Perkins of Edmore; four daughters, Vicki and Richard Weatherby of Alma, Michigan, Sheryl and Conrad Mox of Pottersville, Susan and Jeff Maguire of Edmore and Rachael and Scott Collar of Crystal; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Eldonna Storres of Flint; 2 brothers, Leslie Fouts of Indiana and John and Valerie Fouts of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews; special loving sister-in-laws, Joyce Perkins, Ruth Perkins, Anita and Don Vogel; and brother-in-law, Arville and Pat Perkins.
A Memorial Service in Gloria's honor will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore, with Pastor Michael Riegler officiating.
Memorial contributions in Gloria's name may be made payable to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, MI 48906.
