Jean A. Wonsey; age 80 of Alma passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Midland Medical Center with family by her side. Jean was born December 9, 1940 the daughter of Laurence and Isabel (McElhaney) Thomas. She enjoyed going up north to the cabins, wintering in Florida, which she had done for the last 20 years, collecting chicken ornaments, and her daily visits to WalMart. Jean enjoyed cleaning and worked with housekeeping for many years, mostly at Masonic Pathways. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean is survived by 4 children Jerry Wonsey of Alma, Connie (Doug) Parling of Alma, Ronnie (Joyce) Wonsey of St. Louis, and Ricky Wonsey of Alma; 7 grandchildren Mickey and Michelle Parling, Stacy (Adam) Anderson, Kelly (Brad) Baxter, Robert (Sarena) Wonsey Fred Wonsey, and Jason (Debbie) Wonsey; 7 great grandchildren Jacob, Ellee, Kylee, Mariah, Kaylie, Alex, and Jason Jr.; sister Mickey (Bill) Natzel of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Jean is preceded by both her parents; siblings Betty Clark, Mary Veronica Zuker, Larry Thomas, and James McElhaney; and special friend Delbert Gilbert. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.

I’m so very shocked and sad to read of Jeanie’s passing, we ran into each other, yes!, at WM a few times, we have been friend’s 66-67 yr’s. My heart goes out to her family, God Bless!.

We grew up with the Wonsey family as we lived next to them for many years and Jean was always there to help neighbors and friends. Always remember her loaning her car to our mother when her car was being repaired. So sorry to hear she went home,sending prayers for all the family.
