Leroy Murray Obituary
Leroy Murray, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Woodland Hospice House.
Funeral Services for Leroy will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 12 Noon until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Leroy was born on April 17, 1941 in Tazewell, VA, the son of Fritz and Thelma (Crigger) Murray. Leroy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. Following his tour of duty, Leroy worked for Boeing Aircraft, and later, as a Union Carpenter for Carpenters Local 706, retiring after 25 years of work. Leroy married Sheree Heath on March 20, 1976. He enjoyed golfing and watching hockey and football.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheree; children, Heather Murray of Shepherd and Shane (Sara Autem) Murray of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughter, Madeline Strawder; brothers, Arvin (Mary) Howingten, Sam Murray, Bill (Brenda) Murray, and Tim Murray; sisters, Juanita Cooper, Mae (David) Carroll, and Berniece Murray; and several nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Thelma Murray; sisters, Martha Katherine Murray and Francis Bullard; and nephews, Michael Jackson and Christopher Murray.
