Linda Kay Dielman

1951 - 2022

Linda Kay Dielman, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away early Monday morning, August 1, 2022, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital. Linda was born May 26, 1951, in Ionia, Michigan, daughter of Eunice Billie (Imus) Lyon and William Porter Lyon. Linda married Everett Arthur Dielman Jr. in Mt. Pleasant on January 1, 1998, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Linda worked for over 40 years at CMU Public Broadcasting. She thoroughly enjoyed the many positions held in marketing, public relations, programming, grants and outreach. Retired in 2021, she held fond memories of co-workers, many of whom she became longtime friends with. She was actively involved with the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians union (“NABET�) including serving as Local 412 president for 35 years. Linda was involved in numerous literacy projects and Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant. She loved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling with her mom, shopping estate sales and antiquing, gardening and her church, Trinity United Methodist. Linda’s formative years were spent early on in East Jordan and then Cheboygan where she graduated from CHS in 1969, being active in band, school plays and musicals and French Club. She later moved to Mt. Pleasant to study for a broadcasting degree at Central Michigan University and through this experience earned a part time job at WCMU and her career there was off and running! Linda is survived by her mother Eunice Billie Lyon; two children, James Russell Dale III and Jennifer Lynn Shamlin both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Trevor Lerma and Sammy Shamlin III; three great grandchildren, Isabell Lerma, Aliana Lerma and Luca Lerma; siblings, William (Florence) Lyon of Palm Coast, FL, Harry Lyon of Alpena, MI and Douglas (Melinda) Lyon of Rockford, MI; close cousin Bob (Sally) Hodges of Calgary, Alberta; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Everett, her father William and her sister Lucia Tomkins and sister-in-law MaryJo Lyon. Linda’s celebration of life service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, September 16, at Lincoln Reception Center (located next to Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home).
