Mark Gilman Obituary

Gilman, Mark E. Age 54; passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 1, 1963 in Clare, MI to Edward and Carolyn (Bazaire) Gilman. When Mark was 22 he sustained injuries in an automobile accident that left him wheelchair bound. He lived his life to the fullest, felt he had a great life and had little to complain about. Mark was the life of the party, had a defining character and was very self-confident. Mark enjoyed Nascar and sports, especially boxing. Attending the Holyfield/Tyson match with his son, Eric was a memory he treasured. To never let life hold you back and to be able to take care of your family and help them while they are helping you, are two things he would want everyone to remember. Mark is gone but not forgotten by; his son Eric (Julie); mother, Carolyn; siblings, Lonny (Wendy) Gilman of Mecosta, Tony (Rita) Gilman of Lake, Lesly (Tim) Pounder of MN and April (Brad) Newson of Lake; five Aunts, two Uncles, many nieces, nephews, caregivers and close friends. Mark was preceded in death by his dad Edward and grandparents, J.B. and Margaret Gilman and Lewis and Georgina Bazaire. For his love of the Brinton Chapel the family asks memorial donations be given to them. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Brinton Chapel on the corner of Brinton and Stevenson Lake Rd. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Share a memory or sign the guestbook online at www.daggettgilbertfuneralhome.com

I am really at a loss for words as I look back on my relationship with Mark. I loved him very much and we went through a lot together (as well as a part) He was above all else a treasured friend to me. I can honestly say that the relationship I shared with Mark was like no other I had ever had. He was one of a kind for sure! Generous, kind, loving ~~ stubborn!! I always knew when he was pissed at me too! I only wish I would have followed up on my vow to come and see him like I said I was going to do the last few weeks ~~ I always seemed to put it off. I have known and loved Mark since 1987~ When we would re-connect after years of not seeing each other~ we would be like the friends we were. I am sad that you are no longer on this earth anymore (which I might state is getting less and less desirable these days) but I am overjoyed that you are hanging out in heaven unencumbered by that chair and you are reunited with your Dad,Nanny& Old Man enjoying the afterlife. My sincere love to Carolyn, Eric, Lonny, April, Tony & Lesly. Rest easy my friend~ until we meet again.

Mark will live on in spirit. His spirit was always bright. He seem to have the right thing to say even if he didn't know what to say. He always welcome you in with arms wide open. For that I am glad I got the chance to be in his life. Thoughts and prayers to his mom, sisters, brother, son, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He will live in our memories and our hearts forever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gilman family. Having grown up on Colman road, just 2 miles from The Gilman home, I have many fond memories of Mark and his entire family. Memories of fish fries, and great parties in that big old house! The thing I remember most about Mark was that he was almost always in a good mood and smiling! Also, he would always have new joke to tell. I remember one time we went fishing on Eight Point Lake and caught a nice mess of gills . We brought them back to his house and cleaned them and his mom Carolyn fried them up for us,. I can't remember who the players were, but after the fish fry, we had a an epic poker game at that big old kitchen table! A good time was had by all! We will miss you Mark!! God Bless, Wes Scott
