Peter James Moutsatson

PETER JAMES MOUTSATSON, age 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital. A Celebration of Life will take place at Clark Family Funeral Chapel located at 114 South Bradley St., Mt. Pleasant on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 1 p.m. with a luncheon immediately following in the Reflections Reception Center. Pete was born in Sault Ste. Marie on September 17, 1941, the son of James and Evelyn (Hemma) Moutsatson. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1959. He graduated from Central Michigan University School of Business, later earning an Education Specialist degree from Michigan State University. Pete married Susan (Roberta) Hosford on March 26, 1972, in Alma; they had a beautiful marriage of 51 years. Pete taught business courses at Montcalm Community College for 32 years. Following his retirement from MCC, he was the adjunct business professor of business courses at CMU for 16 years. Pete was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Seventh Day Adventist Church, Clare Seventh Day Adventist Church, and CMU Teachers Union. He enjoyed time with friends, doing home projects and traveling. Pete touched many lives in his years of teaching and his students treasured their time in class with him. Pete is survived by his wonderful wife Susan Moutsatson of Mt. Pleasant; children Judy (Stu) Keel of Verona, WI, Pamela (Spence) Batten of Haslett, Cindy (Paul) Kosloski of Holt, Jennifer (Dan) Garry of Buchanan; grandchildren Matthew Keel, Luke Batten, Hayley Kosloski, and Theo Garry; brother Gene (Valerie) Moutsatson of Mt. Pleasant; sister Phyllis (Andy) Passariello of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Hospice or to the Isabella County Commission on Aging, both of which have been so supportive and helpful to the family in recent months.
