Vera Kleinhardt Obituary
Sept. 7, 1917-April 28, 2013
Vera Ilene (Hendrie) Kleinhardt, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Clare, Michigan on April 28, 2013. She was born in Clare County on September 7, 1917, the youngest of Ethel Lena Virtue and George Washington Hendrie. She married Roger Earnest Kleinhardt on November 17, 1935 in Clare County with Roger's father, Rev. Charles Kleinhardt officiating. They were married for 71 years. Roger predeceased her on June 11, 2007.
She was a wonderful mother, wife, and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, fishing, and going to steam engine shows with her husband. She also, enjoyed gardening, reading, watching the birds, cattle, and new baby calves. She attended Sunday School at Brown Corners Church for many, many years until her health no longer permitted. She was a 4-H club leader and member of the Clare Co. Extension Club.
She is survived by her five children, Joyce Schellhas, Carol (Tom) Beatty, Jay (Karen Ann) Kleinhardt, Gayla (Del) Wiley, and Karen Sue (Mike Ireland) Kleinhardt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bobby (Caroline) Schellhas, Tammy (Kevin) Haynak, Shelia (Luke) Line, Keith (Terri) Beatty, Kraig (Andrea) Beatty, Jaime Kleinhardt, Jody (Donnie) Kleinhardt, Carrie (Michael) Mcfalda, Janelle (Kevin) McPherson, Pat (Niki) Jesse, Shad (Miranda) Smith, Sommer (Michial) Christenson, Jim Wiley, Jay Wiley, and Ryan (Ashley) Kleinhardt; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Erma Kleinhardt, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Loretta Wood. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kenneth and Jay Hendrie, and son-in-law Bob Schellhas.
Services will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Clare United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Bromley officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. Carol and Tom all the years I lived in Clare and I didn't know Mrs Kleinhardt was your Mom Carol I worked with them on several flooring projects one before your Dad passed what a fun time we had on that one They were two of the most kind and gentle souls that I have had the privilege of working with in my life My thoughts and prayers are with you Carol and the rest of your family
