Lucy Mason Barret Normann

Lucy Mason Barret Normann, wife of the late Frank S. Normann, Jr. MD died peacefully on October 4th, 2018. Mrs. Normann was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 19th, 1928 to Dr. and Mrs. Harvey Park Barret (Nannie Marshall Mason), he of Louisville, Kentucky and she of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Mrs. Normann was raised in Charlotte and in Clearwater, Florida, where her family lived during the winter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Claudia Norton Barret Gaines (Mrs. Shelley R.), Nancy Butler Barret, and Mary Russell Barret Eaves (Mrs. J. Everett), and her daughter Claudia Marshall Normann Scott (Mrs. Gary F.) of Longboat Key, Florida. She is survived by her children, F. Barret Normann of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lucy Mason Normann Haynes (Mrs. Gregory R.) of Fairhope, Alabama as well as two grandchildren, Lucy Elaine Normann and John Marshall Barret Normann. She and Dr. Normann were married in 1950 after her graduation from Newcomb College, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Shortly after their wedding, Dr. Normann was called back to active duty as a Naval Officer. They returned to live in New Orleans after his two years of service. Mrs. Normann was an avid golfer in her younger years, and was a passionate Atlanta Braves fan. She enjoyed a keen interest in family history and genealogy, and was very knowledgeable and proud of her ancestral heritage as a daughter of the Commonwealths of Virginia and Kentucky. Mrs. Normann was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, the Junior League of New Orleans, and the New Orleans Country Club. Dr. and Mrs. Normann were members of Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Martins Episcopal Church, and Christ The King Episcopal Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The family wishes to thank Ms. Jetta Sledge of Coastal Care Givers of Fairhope, Alabama for her kind generosity and final care. At Mrs. Normann's request, there will be no memorial service.
