My children have noticed he was not in church lately. He would always greet us when we walked by with a rosary in his hand. I'm sure God welcomed him with open arms.

After reading the inspiring obituary I know Rick much better and I feel blessed to have him as my cousin. I know you (Joan, Janice, Kathleen and Joann & families) will miss him terribly but be comforted that he has a place with our Lord for all eternity. God bless you all.

Was so very sorry to read of Rick's passing. Praying he is now pain free!!!! Loved Rick's smile.
I didn't see Rick very often over the years, but he always seemed to remember me. My very deepest

Joan - I was so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He was such an inspiration for everyone he knew and I know Nancy got such great joy from spending time with you guys over the years. Thanks so much for including her in your lives. God Bless you and the rest of Rick's family as you grieve his passing.

We brought our young daughter Jane all the way out to Ohio to the Neurological Center because she had a brain injury and she had stopped getting better and we were at a loss. We were tired. We were getting scared that our precious girl was going to give up on trying to get better. From the moment we arrived, we were lovingly welcomed and cared for by both Joan and Rick. Through their love and friendship Jane because quickly attached to them and began to get better again. She looked forward to going to the center to see her friends. She would work harder for Joan and Rick than she would Mom or Dad. In the years since we returned home, they have continued to spend time with her on the phone, encouraging her and just being a part of her life. Jane would talk about her friends Joan and Rick daily. They have both been so patient and giving to her, I want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for loving my girl and giving her so much of your time.

Rick certainly was a 'card.' The several times that I got to be his caregiver, he played his Sequence cards very carefully.
He is a pro at the Sequence of Life after lining up all the challenges of his life and all the good qualities of his char-
acter, he can claim his eternal victory. Way to go, Champ!

Rick was legendary in overcoming his adversity. He was blessed to have such a spirit filled caretaker like Joan, always tending to his needs. Youre a remarkable woman Joan. A visit with Joan and Rick was sure to be a good time with plenty of laughter! Our Rick will be missed, but Im comforted in knowing he is happy and with our Lord. Ill bet the farm hes probably playing cards with the saints and angels. Rest In Peace good buddy.

How are you doing and 10-4 Good Buddy were a couple of Ricks most favorite words when you greeted him. He was ornery. Joan, you deserve all the best and a big salute in what you have done for Rick through the years. He couldnt have asked for a better companion and caretaker for all these years. We are fortunate he brought you to our area. We want you to know how sorry we are for your loss. Please accept our condolences. The Fortkamps
