Brady Hornback Obituary

Brady Lynn Hornback, 58, of Louisville, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, of complications from a heart transplant.

Born in Elizabethtown on March 15, 1967, Brady was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Brady graduated from Elizabethtown High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Administration from Western Kentucky University.

From the time he was a member of the Medical Explorers Club as a young person, he knew he wanted a healthcare career. Brady's meticulous nature was perfectly suited to manage medical records. He worked for Norton Child Psychiatry, Jeffersontown Family Practice, Baptist Health and University of Louisville Health. Navigating through a dizzying array of complex databases and medical software, while holding an encyclopedic knowledge of medical codes, was second nature for a mind like Brady's.

Brady acted in several Hardin County Youth Theatre productions and perhaps this experience set him on a lifelong love of music, theatre and film. His huge library of music and film reflected this passion, as did the many ticket stubs he amassed from hundreds of concerts. For one of his last projects, Brady tapped into his vast knowledge of music to work on the playlist for his 40th high school reunion.

Brady was a collector and mid-century modern man. His home was a step back in time when Fiesta ware set on Formica and chrome kitchen tables; teal, pink and yellow dominated interior color palettes; and starburst clocks hung above the hi-fi turntable. Among his collections were seashells from Sanibel Island, Gilner elves, Inarco Mood Indigo ceramics and all things vintage Christmas.

His dogs were the recipients of excessive amounts of both love and treats, especially food that wasn't good for them. His dogs over the years, Buffy, Brandy, Bodey, Bonnie, and Buddy spent many a happy hour snuggled up to Brady.

If you were lucky enough to know Brady, then you enjoyed laughter in your life. He had a quick wit and always was the life of the party. He was exceptionally generous and thoughtful; he always had the perfect gift for friends and family, most often, accompanied by a Snoopy card. He was a kind, dedicated, beautiful human, who loved unconditionally.

Brady was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Heady Hornback.

He is survived by his father, Barney Hornback of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Brian (Kaki) Hornback of Elizabethtown and Barry (Marla) Hornback of Jeffersonville, Indiana; two sisters, Bethany Hornback Langdon of Midway and Brooke Hornback of Elizabethtown; two nieces, Jasmine Todd and Abigail Hornback; a nephew, Ira Langdon; an aunt, Beverly Heady; and two cousins, Matt Heady and Dan Heady.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hardin Memorial Park in Elizabethtown.

His family invites those who would honor Brady's memory to make a gift to the Donate Life Kentucky Trust.
