Danielle Ashley Obituary

On Dec. 17, 2023, Danielle Ashley, 43, passed away unexpectedly at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. While it would seem to all of us that Danielle's life was too short, her family has found immense comfort during this tragic loss in the abundant outpouring of condolences by so many people – all of whom sharing similar memories about how Danielle lovingly impacted their lives, and the instant comfort her smile and hug brought them, even on their seemingly worst day.

Danielle was born in Hawaii on May 26, 1980, into a proud military family. Stationed at various bases through her childhood, she would see the world with her parents and younger sister, until they would permanently reside in Elizabethtown. Danielle later graduated from Central Hardin High School in 1998 and earned her college degree at Jefferson Community College.

Danielle would marry James Ashley in 2006, and when he re-enlisted into the Army, she would enjoy traversing the globe, once again. When they returned to Elizabethtown, her hard work ethic and inherently compassionate approach would bring healing and wholeness to the countless patients she cared for at PT Practices as clinic director and Encompass Health. Whenever she could, Danielle would pursue her love of the outdoors; bringing her loved ones along to get "grounded" with the earth. Her favorite time of the day: watching the sun set, no matter where she was or what she was doing, she would always give herself a moment to watch the sun set the day away.

Danielle was a devoted wife to James for 17 years, and a loving mother to Destinee Ashley, Junior Ashley and daughter-in-law, Rachel, Alex Ashley and daughter-in-law, Tori, Kody Ashley and daughter-in-law, Jessica Ashley. She loved being a grandmother to Oliver, Lincoln Rhodes, Theodore Davis, Phoenix Ashley, Maverick, Roman, and was eagerly waiting another grandchild, expected in 2024.

Danielle also is survived by her parents, Terry and Jackie Douglas; and her favorite sister, Brienne Thornton. Danielle was a selfless aunt and incredible role model to her niece Arianna, and nephews Treydon, and Ashdon Thornton. Other surviving family members, including her grandmother, Ellen Rupe, her aunts, Renee and Kathy, uncles, Rex and Ron, and cousins, Stephanie, Dustin and Rachael, all fondly remember Danielle bringing love, comfort, hospitality and humor into their lives as she brought out the best in everyone, every day.

The funeral for Mrs. Ashley is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Elizabethtown Church of the Nazarene, 1200 N. Miles Street in Elizabethtown.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

My heart is broken Danielle was a beautiful woman and wonderful friend. I didn´t know her as much as some but she made an impact on my life. Heaven has accepted a beautiful soul and I know she will be singing to the Lord.
