David Simpson Obituary

David Michael Simpson Sr., known as Dave and David Joe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at the Hospice Inpatient Care Center of Louisville, at the age of 70.

Born Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1953, in Louisville, Dave's life was characterized by his unwavering passion, gentle spirit and boundless love.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Laresa Simpson; his sons, David Michael Simpson Jr. (Sara), Timothy Michael Simpson (Jessica) and daughter, Alanna Hasty (Mike). He was a proud grandfather to Emma Kate, Luke Gabriel, Rhett Michael, Cruz Alexander, Jocelyn Marie and Greenley Abagail. His legacy will continue through them. Dave was the cherished son of William Joseph Simpson and was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Marie Killeen Simpson, and his sister, Michele Karen Kurk (Frank). He is also survived by his siblings, Sheri Simpson, Stephen Simpson (Susan) and Alison Claypoole as well as one niece, seven nephews and a host of extended family and friends whom he loved and whom will miss him dearly.

Dave's professional journey was as much about community as it was about career. He owned and operated multiple convenience store locations throughout his life including Carmel, Indiana, Bowling Green, Horse Cave and Four Corners in Eastview off U.S. 62 at which time he met his beloved Laresa in Eastview. After closing the Eastview store, Dave embarked on a career with Kroger, becoming a company manager at four different area locations where he formed many new friendships and bonds. Known for his warm personality, Dave never met a stranger and always could be counted on for a kind word or helping hand.

Beyond his professional life, Dave was a man of deep faith. He had a passion for studying the Bible and sharing his knowledge with others. His commitment to his faith was evident in his desire to teach Bible study, which he did with joy and dedication. Dave's love for God was the cornerstone of his life and he lived to embody the principles of his faith in every interaction.

Remember throwing baseball with David as kids. He'd always burn me out. He could throw the pill hard.
