Dorothy Lucille Board

Dorothy Lucille Gross Board, 96, of Irvington, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

She was born in Louisville on Dec. 26, 1928, daughter of the late Oma Lorene Johnson and Jesse Harvey Gross Sr. Dorothy graduated from Irvington High School and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Custer Methodist Church and Custer Order of Eastern Star. She was a former realtor with Coldwell Banker and Monarch Realty. Other than her family, Dorothy's passion was softball. She played for many years – even in her 60s - with different teams, whether it be church or rec league. She was fierce on the field and you dreaded batting when she was pitching. She was very active with Custer PTA activities when her children attended school. She enjoyed flower gardening, watching the birds in her yard, loved animals, especially dogs. Her favorite things were discussing politics and McDonalds filet of fish sandwiches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Board; a daughter, Tyammy Board; her grandson, Dakota Allen; and a brother, Jesse Gross Jr.

Dorothy is survived by six children, Sandi Holland (Don) of Radcliff, Harold Board Jr. (Cheryl), Troy Board (Melanie) and Tracie Allen (Dwight), all of Irvington, Robert Board (Sandy) of Harned and Todd Board (Janet) of Hardinsburg; 10 grandchildren, Brittney Holland, Kristy Lancaster (Josh), Chad Board (Rebecca), Dale Board, Treva Wright (Earl), Bradley Board (Kelly-Jade), Clint Board (Tiffany), Austin Board (Erica), Cassidy Mohan (Justin) and Danielle Allen; a stepgrandson, Kyle Haynes; 17 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Schornick, Dax Martin and Ava Kate Lancaster, Adeline Board, Sydney, Kaylee and Jordan Board, Elena, Barbara Gail and Lemuel Wright, Bo Board, Paxton, Bellamy and Lexie Board, Braelyn and Aria Board and Benjamin Mohan.

The funeral was Saturday, Jan. 4, at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington,.
