Helen Cave, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the privacy of her home on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021.
She was born in 1928 in Barren County, was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for more than 65 years and was a homemaker. She served in her past as a 6-year-old Sunday school teacher. Helen was retired from Buckingham Condominiums, where she had worked as their office manager for 20 years.
Her greatest joys in life were in the Lord and in her love for family. She enjoyed a night out at Derby Dinner, family get togethers or just listening to the Gaither's gospel music in the quiet of her home. She enjoyed doing for others in life and appreciated the outpouring of expressions of love through cards, calls and visits from family and friends in her final days.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Irene Magers; and two sisters, Lillian Barry (Harold) and Mary Emma Skees (Mike).
Survivors include her devoted husband of 73 years, George Lee Cave; two children, Judy Merkley (Louis) and Larry Cave (Sharon); four grandchildren, Kim Jiranek (Marlin), Scott Merkley (Elizabeth), Drew Cave and Justin Cave; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Jiranek, Jacob Jiranek, Campbell Merkley and Cadie Merkley.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Emory Riley officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests masks be worn for all services.
