Betty and I were classmates at St Benedict high school. Betty was intelligent, an excellent student and always willing to help the less studious including me ,especially in English. She was always easy to talk to; never said anything bad about anyone else; never boastful. Betty, at an early age seemed to be a faith filled Christian, espousing Catholic values as demonstrated in the manner she treated all of us , her classmates. Betty seemed to say, look dummy, as long as you are in good shape with the Lord ,nothing else really matters. Attachment to material things, recognition, power is all fluff as compared to the kingdom of God. She was a humble individual, setting the example for all of us to follow. My prayers for her are not needed now. I am sure she is looking down with that smile on her face.
