James Wilcox Obituary

James "Harold" Wilcox, 81, born March 5, 1944, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at the University of Louisville Medical Center in Louisville.

James was a dedicated and hardworking individual, having retired from Gates Rubber Company after 38 years of service. His commitment to his work was matched by his devotion to his family. He was married to Martha Faye Wilcox for more than 60 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three children, Angela Johnson, Kimberly D. Wilcox and Christopher Wilcox, all of Elizabethtown.

In addition to his family and career, James was a dedicated member of the Cecilia Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, contributing to his community with the same steadfastness he showed in all aspects of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ervin and Nellie Wilcox; his sister, Barbara Lynch; and his brother, Johnny Wilcox.

James is survived by his wife, Martha Bowles; three children, four sisters, two brothers, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish his memory.

James Wilcox will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith and his community.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Cecilia Baptist Church. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

My heart is saddened to learn of Harold's passing. He was a respected Christian man whom I was privileged to call my friend. May God comfort his family and friends at Cecilia.
